Course Descriptions

Self-Manifested Chi Flow

Prerequisite: None

This is an excellent course to begin your Chi Kung training or enjoy the deeper benefits if you already are a practitioner of Shaolin Wahnam Chi Kung. Through a few simple but profound exercises, Grandmaster Wong will initiate the students into their natural ability to generate energy (chi) flow. And gradually, by the end of the class, the students will be able to completely let go and enjoy a self-manifested chi flow. Students will find themselves move about spontaneously in different and sometimes funny ways. Yet the practitioner is in full control and is able to change or stop his movements if he wishes. Self-manifested chi flow has been practiced since ancient times, but was kept exclusively for special people in the past.

This course is very beneficial for improving one's health and overcoming illness. Spontaneous movements are the natural result of energy moving freely throughout the body and getting rid of any physical, emotional and mental blockages. It is excellent for cleansing meridians and harmonizing energy levels. This is a fun and energizing course!

Dan Tien Breathing

Prerequisite: Self-Manifested Chi Flow*

Dan Tien Breathing, also known as "Cosmic Breathing," is an advanced Chi Kung exercise. It is specially used to expand the mind and cultivate the spirit, while it can also be used to overcome pain and illness and enhance vitality and longevity. In the course you may vibrate with the Cosmos, and experience tremendous peace and joy. Grandmaster Wong will initiate you into this advanced yet simple art to enable you to enjoy these wonderful benefits.

Merging with the Cosmos

Prerequisite: Self-Manifested Chi Flow*

Students often describe this as the “Wow!” course. The exercise comes from the famous Chi Kung set called "Sinew Metamorphosis", known as Yi Jin Jing in Chinese. Many people today practice the Yi Jin Jing, but most practice it as an isometric exercise. Few people in the world experience the Yi Jin Jing as a powerful energy exercise, which is what you'll experience in this course.

The exercise taught is bafflingly simple, and yet incredibly powerful. A seemingly simple technique will enable you to feel your spirit expand and merge with the cosmos. Compared to the Eighteen Lohan Hands, this exercise develops more internal force. In the past, this internal force was used for martial arts and spiritual cultivation. Today, we can use the same internal force for our daily work and play. It will also cultivate useful skills like quick thinking, mental freshness, peace of mind, courage, and the ability to think under pressure.

*Participants wishing to attend "Cosmic Breathing" or "Merging with the Cosmos" must take "Self-Manisfested Chi Flow" or have previously studied with Grandmaster Wong or a Shaolin Wahnam Instructor.

Important Note for All Prospective Students

All participants in Shaolin Wahnam West classes and seminars must agree to abide by the 10 Shaolin Laws.

TEN SHAOLIN LAWS

The Ten Shaolin Laws are non-religious, and transcend all cultures and races, i.e. people of any culture and race would agree that they promote values that are worthy and desirable. Laws, in the Shaolin tradition, are not meant to be punitive or restrictive, but as practical means to help followers achieve set aims and objectives; in this case to help them attain the best possible results in practicing Shaolin Kungfu, Chi Kung or Tai Chi Chuan for combat efficiency, joyful living, mind expansion, and spiritual fulfillment.

There is no legal binding on the Ten Shaolin Laws; one cannot be prosecuted in a law court if he breaks these laws. The binding is moral. But they are not forced upon the follower; the follower accepts them because he chooses to, because he believes they are helpful to him in his physical, emotional, mental and spiritual cultivation. If he breaks the laws, despite sufficient warnings, he may be asked to leave the Shaolin training, not as a punishment, but because the training is not suitable for him.

THE TEN SHAOLIN LAWS

  • Required to respect the master, honor the Moral Way and love fellow disciples as brothers and sisters.
  • Required to train the Shaolin arts diligently, and as a pre-requisite, to be physically and mentally healthy.
  • Required to be filial to parents, be respectful to the elderly, and protective of the young.
  • Required to uphold righteousness, and to be both wise and courageous.
  • Forbidden to be ungrateful and unscrupulous, ignoring the Laws of man and heaven.
  • Forbidden to rape, molest, do evil, steal, rob, abduct or cheat.
  • Forbidden to associate with wicked people; forbidden to do any sorts of wickedness.
  • Forbidden to abuse power, be it official or physical; forbidden to oppress the good and bully the kind.
  • Obliged to be humane, compassionate and spread love, and to realize everlasting peace and happiness for all people.
  • Obliged to be chivalrous and generous, to nurture talents and pass on the Shaolin arts to deserving disciples. (Passing on the Shaolin Arts is only done by properly trained and certified individuals. It is irresponsible to attempt to pass on the Arts otherwise)
